The Galaxy S23 range: what really exists

Samsung launched three Galaxy S23 models: the S23, the S23+ and the S23 Ultra. They were unveiled on 1 February 2023 and have been on sale since 17 February 2023.

Many people search for "Samsung S23" without knowing which model to choose. Is the Samsung S23 worth buying in Cameroon today? Here is the family's spec sheet:

All three models are water and dust resistant (IP68) and shipped with Android 13. The S23 Ultra is the only one with the S Pen and a 10x telephoto. You can check everything in the "Our sources" section at the bottom of the page.

Does a "Note 23 Ultra" or "S23 mini" exist?

No. These names circulate, but Samsung never sold a Galaxy Note 23 Ultra, an S23 mini or an S23 Pro.

The Galaxy Note range ended with the Note 20, in 2020. Since then, the S Pen stylus has been found in the Ultra models of the S series. If you are looking for a "Note 23", the Galaxy S23 Ultra is the right model. For a small size, it is the Galaxy S23, with a 6.1-inch screen.

Samsung also released a Galaxy S23 FE in October 2023. It is a more affordable version, which is not in our catalogue for now.

End of Galaxy S23 support: the date to remember

Samsung promises 4 Android versions and 5 years of security updates for the S23 series: security support runs until about February 2028.

The Galaxy S23 launched with Android 13. It can therefore go up to Android 17. The S24 series and later have a longer promise: 7 years. The table sums up the difference.

Galaxy S23 or Galaxy S23 Ultra: what is the difference?

The S23 Ultra has a bigger screen, a bigger battery, a 200 MP camera and the S Pen. The S23 is lighter and cheaper.

What about the Galaxy S23+?

The Galaxy S23+ is the middle size: a 6.6-inch screen, a 4,700 mAh battery and 45W wired charging. It is in our catalogue.

It suits people who find the S23 too small and the S23 Ultra too heavy. The Galaxy S23+ has the same chip and the same triple camera as the S23, with 8GB of RAM. Compared with the S23, it gains 800 mAh of battery (4,700 mAh vs 3,900 mAh) and charging almost twice as fast (45W vs 25W). It has no S Pen: for the stylus, choose the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
