iPhone or Samsung in Cameroon: which is better in 2026?

Complete guide · Comparisons and brand choice

iPhone 11

Torn between an iPhone and a Samsung? You are not alone: it is the question our customers ask us most. And when people ask "iPhone or Samsung, which is better?", the good news is that the answer does not depend on the brand, but on your budget and what you expect from your phone. In this guide you will see the differences that really matter, then six same-price duels taken from our catalogue. It is written by Abdel Gafar Njupouen, CEO of Gafloow Store.

The answer at a glance

Choose an iPhone if you want simplicity and a very consistent system. Choose a Samsung if you want more screen and battery for your budget. The table below sums up our advice for your situation.

The nine differences that matter

The software

The iPhone runs iOS, a closed and very consistent system: all models look alike and work the same way. The Samsung runs Android with the One UI interface, which is more customisable. Neither is more "modern" than the other. It is a matter of taste: do you prefer simplicity or freedom?

Price for the same budget

Samsung offers recent models from entry level: the Galaxy A06 and A07 date from 2025. At a comparable price, entry-level iPhones are much older: iPhone 6, 7 and 8. The higher the budget, the smaller the gap. Above 250,000 FCFA, both brands offer very similar high-end phones.

The screen

The Samsungs in our catalogue have 90 or 120 Hz AMOLED screens, including on affordable models such as the Galaxy A25 5G. Standard iPhones have a 60 Hz OLED screen up to the iPhone 16. The 120 Hz rate (ProMotion) arrives on the Pro models, then on the iPhone 17. The difference is mostly visible when scrolling, which is smoother at 120 Hz.

The battery

On paper, the Samsungs in our catalogue have bigger batteries: 5,000 mAh on many models, against 2,815 to 3,877 mAh for standard iPhones. The two brands optimise power use differently, so the mAh capacity does not tell the whole story. Look instead at the announced battery life in hours of video on the product pages.

The camera

Both brands take excellent photos. The Galaxy S Ultra models have sensors of up to 200 MP. The iPhone Pro models have 48 MP sensors with a telephoto. Megapixels are not everything: quality also depends on image processing. Compare real photos from the model you are interested in.

Updates

A recent phone gets updates for longer. Every page in our catalogue shows the latest iOS or Android version available for the model. It is the best indicator of the phone's lifespan. Compare that figure rather than the brand. On Android, Samsung promises 7 years of updates from the Galaxy S24 (4 Android versions and 5 years of security for the Galaxy S22 and S23), and Google 7 years from the Pixel 8. Apple does not publish a fixed period.

SIM cards and eSIM

On our catalogue pages, "eSIM only" appears only on recent iPhones (iPhone Air, 16e, 17, 17 Pro and iPhone Duo). Before buying one of these models, ask your network (MTN, Orange or Camtel) whether it offers eSIM and how to activate it.

Accessories

Chargers, cables, cases, power banks: both brands are well supplied. Find Apple, Samsung and Google accessories in our accessories category. An original charger for the chosen model is a good investment.

The ecosystem

If you already own a watch, earphones or a tablet from one of the two brands, they work better with a phone from the same brand. Otherwise, this should not be the only deciding factor.

Six duels at the same budget

The best way to compare is to put models of the same price side by side. Here are six budgets, with the real models from our catalogue. The prices in the tables are read live: they are always up to date.

iPhone or Samsung depending on your use

Budget decides first. Then your use separates the two brands. Here are our pointers, taken from our catalogue pages.

  • A very tight budget. Under 75,000 FCFA, the iPhone 6, 7 and 8 sit next to the Galaxy A06 and A07. The Samsungs are much more recent, with a 5,000 mAh battery. The iPhones remain simple to use. Read our guide to the best phone under 75,000 FCFA.
  • A small size. To hold the phone in one hand, look at the iPhone 13 mini (5.4 inches) or the compact Galaxy S models (6.1 to 6.3 inches, from the S20 to the S26).
  • Long battery life. The Galaxy S Ultra models have a 5,000 mAh battery. The iPhone 18 Pro Max announces up to 45 hours of video playback according to Apple.
  • A stylus. Only Samsung offers one: the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, or a Galaxy S Ultra (S22 Ultra and later).
  • A foldable phone. The Galaxy Z Flip folds for your pocket, the Galaxy Z Fold opens like a book. At Apple, the iPhone Duo is the first foldable, available to pre-order with us.
  • The longest support. A Galaxy S24 or newer is supported for 7 years by Samsung. Choose a recent model, whatever the brand.
  • Everyday simplicity. An iPhone stays more consistent from one model to the next. If you change phones often, you feel at home straight away.

If you are still torn between two models, message an adviser on WhatsApp: they compare the two pages for you and tell you what is in stock.

The Google Pixel, a third option

The Google Pixel is a third option, known for its camera and for the long years of updates announced by Google. We offer several, from the Pixel 5 to the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Find them in the Google Pixel category. For the most recent models, read our Pixel 10 in Cameroon and Pixel 11 in Cameroon guides.

How to decide in four questions

If you are still unsure, answer these four questions.

  1. What is your budget? Set it first, then compare two models of the same price in the duels above.
  2. What do you already use? A Google account or Android accessories? Stay with Samsung. Apple accessories? Stay with iPhone.
  3. What is your priority? A smooth screen and a big battery, or the simplicity of iOS?
  4. How long do you want to keep it? Choose a recent model, with a recent iOS or Android version.

What to check before you buy

Whatever the brand, run three checks before you pay:

  1. The IMEI. Compare the one on the phone, the box and the receipt. Our guide on how to check the IMEI explains the steps.
  2. The receipt. Insist on it, with the date and the model.
  3. The warranty. It must be in writing. Our warranty lasts 12 months.

Our guide on how to buy a phone safely lists the twelve checks.
