The iPhone 15 range: what really exists

Apple launched four iPhone 15 models in 2023: the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. All have a USB-C port. There is no iPhone 15 mini.

Here are the four models, with the figures published by Apple:

All four have the Dynamic Island, a USB-C port and water and dust resistance (IP68). The two Pro models add a titanium frame, a 120 Hz ProMotion screen, the Action button and a telephoto: 3x on the 15 Pro, 5x on the 15 Pro Max. What does "plain iPhone 15" mean?

"Plain iPhone 15" refers to the standard model: the iPhone 15, without "Pro" or "Plus".

It is not an official Apple name, but it is how many customers search for it. The "plain" iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch screen, the A16 Bionic chip, a 48 MP main camera, the Dynamic Island and a USB-C port. Its full page is here: iPhone 15 256GB.

What about the iPhone 15 Plus?

The iPhone 15 Plus exists at Apple: it is the big-screen version of the iPhone 15. It is not in the Gafloow Store catalogue for now.

The iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen, the same A16 Bionic chip as the iPhone 15 and up to 26 hours of video. We only sell the models we can deliver. If you are looking for it, contact an adviser: they will tell you whether it can be ordered.

USB-C, Action button, titanium: what really changes

All four iPhone 15 models have USB-C, but only the Pro models have a fast port, the Action button and the titanium frame.

• USB-C. It replaces Lightning: one cable for the iPhone, a tablet or a recent computer. On the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, the port reaches USB 3 speed (up to 10 Gb/s according to Apple), handy for copying large videos. On the iPhone 15 Plus, it is limited to USB 2 (up to 480 Mb/s).
• The Action button. It replaces the silent-mode switch on the Pro models. You set it for silent mode, the torch, the camera, a voice memo or a shortcut.
• Titanium. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have a titanium frame, while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are aluminium. It is a matter of strength and finish, not of use.

Apple Intelligence: which iPhone 15 models get it?

Only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have Apple Intelligence. The standard iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus do not.

This is an important difference if Apple's artificial intelligence matters to you. Apple keeps it for the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 16 and later (see Apple's page). If that is your criterion, look at the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro Max or an iPhone 16.

In 2026, is the iPhone 15 still a good buy?

Yes, if you want a complete iPhone at a lower price than the new models. No, if you absolutely want the latest model.

The iPhone 15 models keep very good strengths: a fast chip, a 48 MP main camera, USB-C and good battery life. What you give up compared with newer models: a 120 Hz screen on the standard model, longer battery life and, for the standard iPhone 15, Apple Intelligence.
