The Pixel 7 range: what really exists

Google launched three Pixel 7 models: the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro on 13 October 2022, then the Pixel 7a on 10 May 2023. There is no "Pixel 7 Pro XL".

Many people search for "Pixel 7" without knowing which model to choose. Is the Google Pixel 7 worth buying in Cameroon today? This guide gives you the full map of the family and the date until which each model is updated.

All three have 5G. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are water and dust resistant (IP68), the Pixel 7a slightly less (IP67). Until when are Pixel 7 models updated?

Google promises 5 years of updates from launch: until about October 2027 for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, until about May 2028 for the Pixel 7a.

On the official page of its update policy, Google states that the Pixel 6 to 7a receive "5 years of OS and security updates", counted from their release date on the US Google Store.

Pixel 7 Pro XL: it does not exist

There is no "Pixel 7 Pro XL". The large model of this generation is called the Pixel 7 Pro, with a 6.7-inch screen.

Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro: what is the difference?

The Pixel 7 Pro has a bigger, smoother screen, a bigger battery and a 5x telephoto. The Pixel 7 is lighter and cheaper.

If you like zooming or watching a lot of videos, the Pixel 7 Pro is clearly superior. The standard Pixel 7 is still a good choice if you prefer a more compact, cheaper phone.
